Wildcats down NECC foe Daniel Webster 5-2

GAME STORY:

Nashua, NH – Host Daniel Webster went to the half tied with Bay Path at one, but the visiting Wildcats scored four times in the second half on the way to a 5-2 victory over the Eagles in the regular season home finale for DWC on Monday at Harvey Woods Field.

Nicole Schafer picked up a pair of goals for the Wildcats, who grabbed their first victory of the season (1-13, 1-3 NECC) while Katherine Chabot added a goal and two assists. Elizabeth Deane had a goal and assist while Casey LaMotte added a solo goal.

Ashlynn Wing (Bennington, N.H.) and Taylor St. Jean (Manchester, N.H.) posted goals for the Eagles (0-10, 0-3 NECC) with St. Jean adding an assist.

Anna Meyer earned the win in goal for the visitors, stopping nine Eagles shots. Danielle Melanson (Derry, N.H.) made 11 saves for the hosts.

Wing put DWC ahead in the 13th minute converting an unassisted strike from 10 yards out for a 1-0 game before Chabot tied it with 5:48 to go before the break.

Bay Path forged ahead with 31 minutes remaining on Deane's score off a penalty corner but DWC answered back three minutes later as St. Jean knocked home a Shannon Grigas (Nashua) to knot things at two.

But the Wildcats came right back as Schafer sent home a Deane pass from in close just 54 seconds later and followed with her second of the game, tipping in a Chabot shot from 25 yards out for a 4-2 lead with 16:32 left.

BPC would ice it with 10:38 to go on LaMotte's score, set up by Angela Younger.

The Eagles return to action tomorrow as they visit Wheelock for a NECC matchup at 8:00 p.m. Bay Path closes its regular season on Saturday at Elms , at 11 am.
