Wildcats Split with Blazers in Senior Day Action
Wildcats Honor Lone Senior Vallee Along with Elms' Senior Olszewski

LONGMEADOW, Mass.— Bay Path split with Elms College in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) softball action today during senior day festivities. Sophomore hurler Felicia Gaillardetz (Londonderry, N.H.) earned the shut-out in the opener leading the Wildcats to a 5-0 victory, the Blazers came back to take the nightcap 7-0 for the split on the day.

Two Wildcats managed multiple hit games including senior short stop Lauren Vallee (Bristol, Conn.) and junior DP/pitcher Maddie Goodhart (Pawtucket, R.I.) both going 2-for-3 with one run, while Vallee tallied three RBI. Four more Wildcats each tallied one hit for the contest.

Four Blazers also had four hits for the contest.

Gaillardetz  allowed only four hits, fanning ten batters while walking two for her seven innings of work. Junior pitcher Lisa Lusardi (Enfield, Conn.) suffered the loss giving up five runs, only two earned, allowing eight hits. She fanned four and walked one for the contest.

Junior hurler Raenna Tumel (Stafford, Conn.) earned the shut-out for the Blazers in the nightcap. She allowed on six hits, while  striking out five batters. Goodhart suffered the loss for the Wildcats. She gave up seven runs on ten hits, while fanning three and walking two for her seven innings of work.

Freshman infielder Kayla Vance (Clifton, N.J.) led the Wildcats going 2-for-3. Freshman outfielder Tyla Risucci (Watertown, Conn.) topped her team going  3-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Sophmore infielder Katelyn Sylvia (Southwick, Mass.) was close behind with two hits, one run and one RBI. Senior infielder Elizabeth Olszewski (Canterbury, Conn.) was one of five Blazers to hit in the second game.

Bay Path is now 18-14 on the season and 9-5 in the NECC, Elms is 15-16 overall in 10-6 in conference play. Both teams will make it to the 2018 NECC tournament. Bay Path must play a conference makeup double header tomorrow hosting Dean College in a change of venue starting at 11:00 a.m.

Vallee honored today in senior day festivities holds numerous accolades both academically and athletically. She has broken most every school record for her batting including doubles, triples and homeruns. She has been a two/three sport athlete excelling at both Volleyball and Softball. She was honored as the DIII player as well as NECC player of the year. She has been a four year academic all American in the NFCA as well as the NECC. Currently her career stats include; 121 games played and started, 148 runs, 191 hits, 48 doubles, 16 triples, 25 homeruns, 144 RBI, 39 stolen bases, a .469 batting average, .509 on base percentage and .850 slugging percentage.
