Wildcats Conclude Regular Season Shutting Down Dean

LONGMEADOW, Mass.— Bay Path hosted Dean College in a postponed New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) matchup despite the Bulldogs still being the home school in softball action today. The Wildcats managed to shut-down the Bulldogs 9-0 in a five inning opener and 10-1 in the closing game concluding their regular season play with 11-5 conference record and 20-14 overall. Dean falls to 8-26 on the season and 3-13 in the NECC. At the conclusion of the Newbury and Mitchell games tomorrow the NECC office will release the final Tournament pairings; currently Bay Path is 3rd in the softball standings.

Sophomore hurler Felicia Gaillardetz (Londonderry, N.H.) earned both victories including the shut-out in the opening game. In the opener, she only gave up three hits and fanned four batters. In the second game, Gaillardetz only allowed one run on eight hits; striking out seven Bulldogs.

Junior designated player Maddie Goodhart (Pawtucket, R.I) led her team in the opener going 2-for-3 with one run and three RBI. Junior infielder Katrina Peck (Newington, Conn.) and junior outfielder Marissa Sarna-McCarthy (Westhampton, Mass.) both went 2-for-2; Peck added two runs and one RBI and Sarna-MCarthy had one run and two RBI. Freshman outfielder Cameille Keith (Pawtucket, R.I.) also finished with two hits.

 Sophomore hurler Karissa Menzinger (Centereach, N.Y.) suffered the loss for the Bulldogs. She allowed nine runs on thirteen hits. She struck out six batters and only walked four for the day.

Senior short stop Lauren Vallee (Bristol, Conn.) topped all players going 4-for-5 with four RBI. Sophomore catcher Lilly West (Goshen, Mass.) wasn't far behind with three hits, one run and one RBI. Four more Wildcats had multiple hits in the contest including freshman infielder Kayla Vance (Clifton, N.J.), junior outfielder Jai Ruiz (Hadley, Mass.), Sarna-McCarthy and Goodhart.

The Bulldogs were led by freshman infielder Alexandra Langhans (Naugatuck, Conn.) going 3-for-3 with the lone RBI. Sophomore infielders' Melanie Rios-Nevarez (Vega Alta, Puerto Rico) and Courtney Holden (Bridgeport, Conn.) each tallied two hits. Menzinger had the lone run.

Freshman pitcher Ali Nelson (Candia, N.H.) tossed seven innings for the loss giving up ten runs on 7 hits. She struck-out four batters and walked two Wildcats for the game.
