Skiffington Honored On 2nd Team All-NECC

Kayla Skiffington of Bay Path College was named to the 2011-12 NECC All-Conference 2nd Team. Skiffington led the "Wildcats" in scoring,field goal % and rebounding during her 1st year of collegiate basketball. In the 18 games played this year she averaged 17.6 pts./game,13.7 rebs/game and shot 50% from the field.

CHICOPEE, Mass. – Bay Path battled back to within six (55-49) on a Skiffington layup with 3:23, but the Wildcats could get no closer as Parks added a layup and Murphy connected on 5 of 6 from the free throw line over the final 2:45 to help Elms close out a hard-fought 62-51 win.

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Bay Path (6-15 overall, 6-11 NECC) was hot out of the gate, connecting on its first five shots to jump out to a 13-4 lead in the opening minutes. The Wildcats moved the ball around well and had four different players score a basket during the stretch, with Skiffington leading the way with five early points. Brittney Alexander finished with 16 points and five assists while freshman Toni Alexander (Enfield, Conn./Enrico Fermi) added 10 points and five helpers. Taylor Riley (Colchester, Vt./Burlington) rounded out the Bay Path players in double figures with 12 points.

Skiffington led the Wildcats to a 2-1 week averaging 21.3 points, 15.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals per contest while shooting just under 50% from the field. In a 59-57 victory over Lesley, the sophomore pulled down 17 boards and scored the final two of her 23 points with 4 seconds on the clock.

HOLYOKE, Mass. – In true Bay Path style, the Wildcats made a triumphant come back taking the Lesley Lynx in the final ten seconds of the game after a crucial offensive rebound by sophomore forward Kayla Skiffington (East Longmeadow, Mass.) and put back to take the first lead of the game and eventual game winning shot. After getting fouled on the final shot with four seconds remaining a time out was taken by Bay Path head coach Jill Shaw telling Skiffington to purposely miss the final free throw to keep the clock running. Bay Path defeated Lesley 58-57 in another New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) game. Tonight’s pink out game proved pink to be a good luck charm with the host Wildcats who took the floor in their brand new pink uniforms bringing awareness to breast cancer.

The Bay Path College women’s basketball team will be holding its annual “Pink Out” game on February 11, 2012 starting at 5 pm vs Lesley University. The team will be wearing their new pink uniforms for the game. Fans can come out and support the team by wearing pink.

BENNINGTON, VT - The Wildcats scored the first 15 points of the overtime period, as they outscored SVC 18-8 in the final frame. Southern Vermont was held scoreless for the first four minutes of overtime before Alyssa Davis hit a three pointer with 56 seconds remaining. In overtime Bay Path scored 10 of its 18 points from the free throw line.

HOLYOKE, Mass.- All five starters led scored in double figures leading the Wildcats of Bay Path to an 81-73 New England Collegiate Conference victory over the Hawks of Becker College tonight at the Brantley Center. Leading the way for the Wildcats was freshman Je’Quana Orr (East Hartford, Conn.) with 17 points while Becker sophomore forward Tatiana Mojica (Worcester, Mass.) topped all players with 23 points and nine boards.

Following a diving defense play in front of her own bench, the Nighthawks rattled off 21 unanswered points. But the Wildcats were resilient.

CHESTNUT HILL, MA – Freshman guard Je'Quana Orr (East Hartford, CT) converted three free throws to provide the Bay Path College women's basketball team the difference in a 45-43 victory over host Wheelock College in a New England Collegiate Conference contest this afternoon at Brunelli Court on the campus of Pine Manor College in Chestnut Hill, MA. Bay Path improves to 1-4 overall and 1-0 in NECC play, while Wheelock falls to 0-8 and 0-2.
