Senior Herring Concludes her Collegiate Career with 488 points

HOLYOKE, Mass.-Bay Path falls 88-to-38 to the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Regular Season Champs the Nighthawks of Newbury College today in their final regular season game of the season. Senior guard Kaylee Herring (Worcester, Vt.) concluded her career today with nine points, four rebounds and three assists. Freshman guard Emmeline Bronson (Shelton, Conn.) led the Wildcats with 15 points and seven rebounds.
Four Nighthawks scored in the double figures for the contest. Senior forward Destiny Spears (Arnold, Md.) and freshman forward Jaymesha Sanders (West Haven, Conn.) combined for 44 points each tallying 22 for the game. Spears added 18 rebounds, while Sanders had 17 boards. Junior forward Savannah Olsen (Battle Creek, Mich.) chipped in twenty points, eleven rebounds and six assists.
Rounding off the scoring for Newbury, coming off the bench, was junior guard Kristen Connors (Wilmington, Mass.) with ten points and four assists.
Defensively, three Wildcats combined for 21 boards each tallying seven rebounds including Bronson, freshman center Kaleigh Hart (Wethersfield, Conn.) and senior forward Paige Marshall (New Britain, Conn.). Junior guard Joanne Nazario (Springfield, Mass.) added eight points, four rebounds and three assists. Bay Path concludes their season at 0-23 and 0-17.
Herring finishes her Bay Path career with 488 points, 69 three pointers, 150 assists, 244 rebounds, 141 steals, 7 blocks, 56 games started, 74 games played, 2,303 minutes played, 63% career free throws.
Newbury (17-8, 14-2) took advantage of turnovers and driving to the hoop scoring 26 points off of fast breaks, tallying 50 of their baskets in the paint. Newbury claims the 2018 NECC Regular Season Title, going into the tournament as top seed. The top-two seeds receive a bye into the semifinal round. The Nighthawks will face the winner of the No. 5 Wheelock Wildcats at No. 4 Elms Blazers game on Tuesday evening. The semifinal game will be held Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
