Bay Path University basketball honors Black History Month vs. Dean College

LONGMEADOW, MASS.- In NECC Women's basketball acion Dean College defeated Bay Path University 67-34 at the Bartely Center this afternoon.  Prior to the start of the game Bay Path University sported a pre-game warm-up honoring Black History Month.  During the pre-game announcements a 24 second moment silence with the scoreboard and shot clock running down was observed to honor the memory of former L.A. Laker great Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna and the others who perished in the tragic helicopter crash on January 26, 2020.

HALFTIME SCORE:   Bay Path 19 - Dean 38

FINAL SCORE:    Bay Path 34 - Dean 67

 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Dean College and Bay Path battled back and forth throughout the 1st quarter before the "Bulldogs pulled away with a strong run with about 4 minutes to go in the quarter.  The game saw Dean College dominate in the paint outscoring the "Wildcats" 38-8.   

ON THE FLOOR NOTES:

  • Bay Path: Emmeline Bronson (Shelton, Conn.)- 10 points, 4 rebounds and 1 assist;   Heaven Rodriquez (New Britain, Conn.) 16 points, 3 assists, 2 steals.
  • Dean: Makayla Rudder (Springfield, Mass.) 31 points, 21 rebounds and 4 assists;  Taisha Alexandre (Quincy, Mass.) 12 points, 7 rebounds and 2 steals 

LOOK AT THE NUMBERS:

  • Dean outrebounded the Wildcats, 49-26.
  • Dean outshot Bay Path 44.6% to 23.2%

 GAME NOTES:

  • The first time these teams played Dean routed the "Wildcats" 80-28.
