Women's Soccer Falls 2-0 in NECC Match to Regis

WESTON, Mass.-Bay Path fell  2-0 to host Regis College today at the Regis College Sports Complex in women's soccer action. The Pride moves to 7-6 overall on the season, while the visiting Wildcats move to 2-10 on the season.

The first half was an uneventful with both teams failing to connect in their offensive ends. The Pride would rifle off 15 shots in the first period, but could not find the back of the net. Wildcat goalkeeper freshman Marina Rhodes (Providence, R.I.) finished the first period with four saves.

The second period opened with Regis controlling the ball in their offensive end. Freshman Adena Joseph (Stoughton, Mass.) found a seam and broke through the Wildcat defense but was stonewalled by Wildcat keeper Rhodes to keep the score at 0-0.

The Pride would get on the board halfway through the second period when Michelle Sirois (Easton, Mass.) would direct a crisp pass through the Wildcat defense to find an open Kristen Abreu (Woburn, Mass.) who placed the ball bottom right to make the score 1-0 in favor of the Pride. 

The Pride tallied the second goal of the game when Sirois would direct another pass to Abreu who finished on the crease to make the score 2-0. The Pride continued to possess the ball in its offensive end during the final minutes of the game and grabbed the win with final score being 2-0.

Rhodes finished with nine saves. Freshman forward Nicole Crossman (Winsted, Conn.) finished with two shots for the Wildcats.

The Crimson and Gold return to action Thursday, when they take on the Gators from Pine Manor College at 4:00 p.m. The Wildcats return to action Tuesday when they host Wheelock College at 4:00 p.m.
