Jay, VT - Judging by the final statistics, it would appear Northern Vermont University-Lyndon and Bay Path University played a reasonably evenly contested women's soccer game at Jay Peak Resort on Sunday.  In the only statistic that counts, however, the Wildcats made the most of their opportunities while the Hornets didn't.  The end result was a 4-0 Bay Path victory, improving the Wildcats to 2-0 on the season and dropping the Hornets to 0-2.

Bay Path started fast, scoring three unassisted goals in the first half while outshooting the Hornets, 8-2.  Carina Facchini opened the scoring in the sixth minute, with Cassidy Nuccio and Joanna Feliciano following later in the opening half.

The tables turned in the second half, as Lyndon outshot Bay Path 7-4 over the final 45 minutes.  The Hornets couldn't capitalize, however, and the Wildcats' Jennifer Wilson added an insurance goal in the 52nd minute to account for the final margin.

Bay Path goalkeepers Caitlyn Esposito and Emma Martin combined for seven saves in recording the clean sheet.  Victoria McCormack (East Lyme, CT) and Lauren Young (Concord, VT) combined to make four stops for Lyndon.

For the game, Bay Path outshot Lyndon, 12-9.  The Hornets controlled the ball for 52% of the game, while the Wildcats controlled 48% of the time.  Each team earned two corner kicks.
