Pilgrims break up four game winning streak for the Wildcats; Falling 2-0

 LONGMEADOW, Mass. – Bay Path hosted New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) opponent New England College in conference women's soccer action. The Pilgrims defeated the Wildcats 2-0 in a well-played match today.

NEC's senior midfielder Molly Bieksha (Norton, Mass.) broke up the scoreless bout in the 24th minute finding the back of the net off a cross from freshman forward Mackenzie Fels (Centereach, N.Y.). This would prove to be the game winner.

In the 60th minute of play, the Pilgrims' freshman forward Kayla Paquin (Pembroke, N.H.) would notch an insurance goal after a struggle for the ball outside the goal box; senior defender Meghan Hickey (Portland, Conn.) managed to get a touch on the ball reaching Paquin for the goal.

Senior starting goalkeeper Caitlyn Esposito (East Haven , Conn.) suffered the loss facing 18 shots, eleven on goal, with eight saves.

The Pilgrims starting keeper sophomore Emily Sashko (Mayfield, Penn.) only saw six minutes before coming out due to injury. Reserve sophomore goalie Allie Stoddart (Charlestown, N.H.) notched the win and part of the shut-out with seven saves on the day.

Bay Path is now 6-2-0 on the season and 0-1 in the NECC, while NEC advances to 4-5 overall and 2-0 in conference play. The Wildcats will be back in action on Tuesday, October 1st on the road at Fitchburg for a 7:00 p.m. start, the Pilgrims face #2 ranked Middlebury College tomorrow at noon.
