Wildcats Hike Past Trailblazers 8-1
NORTH ADAMS, Mass.- Bay Path Wildcats won a decisive 8-1 match today over the Trailblazers of MCLA at the Zavattaro athletics complex. The Wildcats are now 3-1, while MCLA falls to 0-2.
Freshman Brittany Walsh (North Smithfield, R.I.) remains undefeated on the season. Walsh also moved from the #5 singles position to the #3 singles spot. Teamed with freshman Taylor Wood (Castleton, N.Y) the two swept their play winning both singles and doubles for the match. The tandem took No. 3 doubles 8-3. Walsh won a her second straight higher seeded match at the No. 3 singles spot 6-4, 6-4 while Wood swept through the No.5 spot 6-0, 6-3. Wood also moved up one position from the previous match.
Also getting back into the swing are the Wildcat veterans' junior No.1 player Symone Watson ( Hamden, Conn.) and No.2 sophomore Stephanie Morin (Springfield, Mass.) both winning . The dynamic duo won the other Bay Path doubles at the No.1 spot 8-1.
Junior Teanna Montoya (Edgartown, Mass.) notched her second victory on the season at the No. 4 spot 6-4, 6-2. . Sophomore Abigail Janneke (Waterbury Conn.) won the No. 6 singles in straight sets 6-0, 6-0 helping the Maroon and White with the singles sweep.
Bay Path is now 3-1. They will be back in action on Sat day, September 15th in their first conference battle against the Mariners of Mitchell College at a noon start.
