WENHAM, MA— Gordon Volleyball earned a split on Saturday afternoon in the team's first official home matches of the year. The Scots came out swinging in their first matchup of the day, earning a 3-0 win over Bay Path College. Emmanuel downed the Scots in game two, with a straight set victory in front of a crowded Bennett Center gym.

Lauren Kranyak (Locust Grove, Va.) and Jenna Labbadia (Berlin, Conn.) paced the Scots' attack in the first match. The front-court duo combined for 14 kills off the hands of sophomore Hannah Swor (Pearland, Texas).

Gordon started fast against the Wildcats and pulled away for a 25-12, 25-17, 25-19 victory. The win halted a four-game losing streak and pulled the team even in the standings.

Aliyah Gordon finished with 10 assists in the losing effort for Bay Path.

In game two, the Scots found themselves matched up with one of the best teams they had seen to this point in the year. Emmanuel set the tone of the match early by grabbing a 15-3 lead over the Scots in the first set. Gordon fought back in the first set, but ultimately fell 25-14.

The Scots (4-5) looked much more comfortable in the second and third sets, but again found themselves on the losing end—as the visiting Saints (6-6) took the final two game by identical 25-19 scores.

Emmanuel's Cassie Chruscielski led the Saints' balanced attack with six kills and seven points in total.

Kranyak and Labbadia each finished with seven kills apiece in game two, while Maggie Risma (Hudson, Ohio) nabbed 27 digs to pace Gordon's defensive effort.

The Scots are back in action on with their conference opener against Endicott. That match will be played on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. in Bennett.
