WENHAM, Mass. – Simmons Volleyball competed in the Gordon Invitational Saturday, defeating Bay Path College and Framingham State College 3-0, and fell only to the Fighting Scots in a hard fought three games to two.

The Sharks began the tournament versus Bay Path College and with an impressive offensive effort by Rossi Fish (Attleboro, Mass.), Meaghan Flynn (Laguna Beach, Calif.) and Megan Chamberlin (Milford, Mass.), while Sandy Lor (Fitchburg, Mass.) was solid on the defense. "We showed great confidence and got the job done," said Coach Vaccari. "It is exciting to see our team working so well together."

Facing host Gordon College in their second match, Simmons took control early, winning the first two games 26-24, and 25-19, and the Scots found themselves on the brink of defeat. However, Gordon fought back, winning the next three sets to win the match.

"It was a great test for our program and we now know the type of play of which we are capable. We made several errors in the third game and lost some of our momentum, but we are learning from our mistakes, making us stronger as team" said Coach Vaccari.

In their final match of the day, the Sharks took on Framingham State College, sweeping all three sets for a 3-0 win. "The last game was a great performance for the Sharks, especially after a tough loss. I am very proud of the girls for winning the last game even though we were fatigued. We worked as a team to get the win," said Coach Vaccari.

The Sharks host Newbury College on September 6th, at 7:00 p.m. at the Holmes Sports Center in another non-conference match.
