Lady Seawolves take down USCAA Div. 1 Bay Path University

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine – The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's volleyball team hosted USCAA Div. 1 Bay Path University inside the HUB Gymnasium on Saturday Oct. 5.

The Seawolves took a 1-0 lead after defeating the Wildcats 25-17 in the first set. Bay Path would even the score in the second set 1-1, posting their best offensive performance of the night, a 25.0 percent kill percentage. SMCC kept its distance in the next two sets to win 25-21 and 25-17 and capture its 14th win of the season.

First-year Meryk Lewellen (Gorham, Maine) landed a 63.6% kill percentage with a team-leading 15 kills; she added three service aces. First-years Yana Montell (Gardiner, Maine) and Sophia Davis (Wells, Maine) combined for 33 assists and 13 digs. The Seawolves totaled 43 kills and 42 assists on the day. 

SMCC's next matchup will be against USCAA Div. 1 University of Maine at Fort Kent (UMFK) at the HUB Gymnasium on Sunday, Oct. 6. First serve in South Portland, Maine is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
