AMCATS Sweep Tri-Match; Shomo Tallies First WIN

PAXTON, Mass. (09/10/11) – Anna Maria swept an afternoon tri-match over Bay Path College and Castleton State College in non-conference women's volleyball action at the Fuller Center. With the two wins the AMCATS' record jumps to 2-2, while head coach Samantha Shomo picked up her first collegiate victory.
 
Match 1- Bay Path College 2, Anna Maria 3 – 25-23, 12-25, 14-25, 25-11, 12-15

Senior Nichole Robbie (Bellingham, MA) and junior Sandy Acosta (Lawrence, MA) paced the AMCATS victory with a match high 15 kills apiece. Robbie also added 10 aces and 10 digs. Setter Alicia Bonneau (Worcester, MA) contributed a match-high 24 assists while sophomore Alex Rodriguez (Puerto Rico, PR) added 3 aces and 16 digs for AMC. Outside hitter Melissa Stedman (Mason, NH) rounded out the scoresheet with 16 digs and 2 aces.

Match 2- Castleton State 0, Anna Maria 3 – 25-22, 25-23, 25-9
Led by Melissa Stedman's 9 aces and Nichole Robbie's 9 kills, Anna Maria defeated Castleton State in straight sets. Senior Alicia Bonneau once again paced Anna Maria in the 2nd victory of their tri-match sweep, adding another match-high 11 assists. Grace Schreiber (Cheshire, Conn) and Sarah Flore (Springfield, VT) both played well for Castleton State, Schreiber had a team high 8 digs while Flore headed the team with 2 kills, 3 digs and an ace. Castleton State drops to 0-6 on the season.
