Softball Wins Matchup Against Bay Path

MYRTLE BEACH, Sc. – Penn State Schuylkill Softball earned their first win of the season against Bay Path University in the second half of their Tuesday doubleheader.

Following a single to center field by Jade Weiss (Pottsville, PA / Pottsville Area High School) in the bottom of the third inning, she stole second base on the next play, setting up what would be Schuylkill's first run of the contest following a double by Emma Crisswell (Williamstown, PA / Williams Valley High School) a few plays later.

Schuylkill continued their momentum in the next inning as Morgan Kleckner (Hamburg, PA / Hamburg Area High School) tripled during the second play of the inning. A sacrifice fly by Tayla Jones (Pottsville, PA / Pottsville Area High School) drove in Schuylkill's second run of the contest. Cealinn McGroarty's (New Boston, PA / Mahanoy Area High School) single to right-center on the next play gave Schuylkill a 3-0 advantage heading into the fifth inning.

Bay Path managed to score their first runs of the contest in the top of the sixth inning; however, they were unable to mount a comeback as Schuylkill forced three outs during a scoreless seventh inning for Bay Path.

Crisswell went 2 for 3 at the plate, finishing with a double and an RBI. Also tallying RBIs for Schuylkill were McGroarty and Jones. Kleckner added a triple in the win.

Crisswell went the distance on the mound, striking out 12 opponents.
