Chabot’s Hat Trick Helps Wildcats to a 6-1 Victory over Hawks

LONGMEADOW, Mass.-Bay Path freshman forward Katherine Chabot (Brookfield, Mass.) earned her first collegiate hat-trick, while junior teammate Deanne Flagg (Enfield, Conn.) tallied two goals and two assists en route to a 6-1 victory over the Hawks of Roger Williams University in field hockey action today at Ryan Field.

Flagg struck immediately off of the whistle in the first 44 seconds of play scoring the first goal. Ten minutes later Chabot scored her first goal and the eventual game winner chipping it past the Hawks keeper on the right side. Flagg and freshman forward Shayna Fish (Jaffrey, Vt.) tallied the double assist after two great passes ending up in Chabot's stick.

Chabot would answer her own call at 18:55 on the clock driving the ball past the keeper after taking the ball inside on her own. Flagg would notch the fourth goal, and her second, in the 31st minute off a beautifully placed cross by sophomore defender Kendall Piorek (Enfield, Conn.).

Flagg and Chabot would contribute to the 4-0 lead heading into halftime for the Wildcats.

Coming out of the break, Bay Path would take advantage of some two calls made by the officials including a green card pulled on junior forward Jolyn Wiggin (Bristol, R.I.). Chabot would convert the Wildcats' fifth goal off a made penalty stroke.

Flagg, who normally takes all corners for Bay Path, assisted in the sixth and final goal sending it straight to sophomore midfielder Anna Bankowski's (Granville, N.Y.) stick for the hard shot straight to the back of the net.

Roger Williams managed to break up Bay Path's shut-out in the 56th minute of play when Wiggin tallied their first and only goal for the Hawks. Freshman forward Sarah Link (Bristol, R.I.) had the assist.

Bay Path is now 2-6 overall, while Roger Williams is 0-1. The Wildcats will be back in action on Saturday, October 8th travelling to Regis to play and NECC match at noon.
