Field Hockey Announces 2012 Captains

Wildcats Field Hockey announces the selection of sophomore Ruth Choate and junior Elizabeth Barclay as the fall 2012 Captains.

Choate and Barclay have been starters on the team since their respective freshmen years.  Choate plays in the midfield and has recorded 1 goal, 3 assists and 2 defensive saves.  Barclay, despite her position as defender, has recorded 1 goal and 3 assists with 4 defensive saves.

"Liz and Ruth have both been natural leaders in the Wildcats Field Hockey program since their first year," states coach Katie Jones "Liz is the anchor of our defensive unit, but has the versatility and skill to play any position that is needed.  Liz has gained the respect and trust from her teammates as caring and compassionate teammate who is always available to talk whenever is needed.  She is always willing to do whatever is needed to make the program, the team, and herself as good as possible." As for Choate Coach Jones continues, "Despite being only a sophomore, Ruth has risen to the challenge as the core of the team, playing center midfield.  She is an amazing leader by example, always giving it her all and raising the level of intensity in practice and games.  She is the kind of rare player that will make everyone around her work harder and achieve more, on and off the field. I am delighted to have Liz and Ruth as the captains of the 2012 Bay Path College Field Hockey program and am confident that they will be the two key components to our 2012 NECC Field Hockey Title Run."
