Wildcats Claw Hawks 2-0 in Field Hockey Action

LONGMEADOW,  Mass.— The Wildcats of Bay Path College picked up their first victory of the season defeating the Hawks of Roger Williams 2-0 today at Ryan Field.  Both teams remained scoreless after the halftime, when in the 57th minute of play senior forward Deanna Flagg (Enfield, Conn.) notched the first goal and eventual game winner for the Wildcats.

Flagg's goal would also prove to be the first one of the young 2012 season for Bay Path. Sophomore midfielder Katherine Chabot (Brookfield, Mass.) had the assist with the initial shot allowing Flagg the touch into the net.  Chabot would finish with two assists for the match having her hand in the second and final goal for Bay Path as well.

The Wildcats would strike again in the 66th minute with freshman defender Elizabeth Deane (Agawam, Mass.) scoring her first collegiate goal.

Bay Path freshmen goalkeeper Anna Meyer (Millbrook, N.Y.) made six saves on six shots made by the hawks.  Meyer would pick up her first victory of her collegiate career.

Roger Wiliams' junior keeper Susan Woodward would suffer the loss with two goals against on six shots, notching four saves. She faced 12 total shots.

Bay Path is now 1-3 on the season, while Roger Williams is 0-1. The Wildcats will host Colby-Sawyer on Friday, September 14 at a 3:30 p.m. start.
