Wildcats Fall to Raiders 4-0

NASHUA, N.H.- The Rivier University Field Hockey team earned their second win of the season as they defeated the Bay Path College Wildcats this evening, 4-0 in front of about 100 people at Raider Field. Freshman keeper Anna Meyer (Millbrook, N.Y.) suffered the loss facing 16 shots, 10 on goal tallying six saves.

Freshman Kate Adinolfo (Manchester, N.H.) gave the Raiders a lead in the first half as she knocked home her second goal of the season at 14:44 as she sniped a shot from the top of the circle.

With a 1-0 lead, senior tri-captain Lindsay Rettenmeier (Ashford, Conn.) received a pass from fellow senior tri-captains Kristen Tyler (Thornton, N.H.) and Ashley Ruocco (East Kingston, N.H.) and slapped it hard past the blocker side of the Bay Path goaltender. That goal, her first of the season, gave the Raiders a 2-0 advantage.

Adinolfo would add her second goal of the game at 52:13 before Ruocco sealed the victory with her own goal at 67:34 on a sophomore Presleigh Skelley (Wolfeboro, N.H.) assist.

Sophomore midfielder Katherine Chabot (Brookfield, Mass.) finished with four shots, two on goal, while junior forward Stephanie Belsen  (Windsor Locks, Conn.) had three shots and two on goal. Senior forward Deanna Flagg (Enfield, Conn.) had one shot on goal.

Sophomore Makenzie Flagg (Shirley, Mass.) was stellar in net as she stopped all five shots she faced to earn her first shutout of the season.

The Raiders (2-8 overall, 0-4 NAC) will host Colby-Sawyer College on Saturday afternoon (3:30pm) in their next scheduled contest.
