The Wildcats Notched First Victory Downing Conference Rival the Eagles

CHICOPEE, Mass.- Sophomore forward Kacy Hikel (Kenduskeag, Maine) scored her second goal on the season notching the first and eventual game winner for the Wildcats early in the first half at 8:55 on the clock. Senior forward Stephanie Belsen (Windsor Locks, Conn.) sliced a nice cross from the corner  to a waiting Hikel putting Bay Path up 1-0 in the first half over New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) rival the Eagles of Daniel Webster. Bay Path shut-out Daniel Webster 2-0 in the conference match this afternoon on the campus of Elms College in women's field hockey action. 

Coming off the bench, sophomore forward Alison Schoen (Southampton, Mass.) scored an insurance goal in the 49th minute of play with junior midfielder Katherine Chabot (Brookfield, Mass.) recording the assist. 

Sophomore goalkeeper Anna Meyer (Millbrook, N.Y.) recorded her first collegiate shut-out and win other than an exhibition win last year against Roger Williams.  Meyer (1-7) faced ten shots, seven of which were on goal, and made three saves.

The Eagles sophomore keeper Danielle Melanson (Derry, N.H.) suffered the loss. Melanson (0-7) had five saves facing five shots three of which were on goal.

Daniel Webster had more opportunities from the corner with nine penalty corners to Bay Path's five for the match.

The Eagles are now 0-7 overall and 0-1 in the NECC. Bay Path is 1-7 on the season and 1-0 in conference play. Daniel Webster hosts NECC opponent  Wheelock Tuesday, October 8th at 4:00 p.m., while Bay Path travels to Rhode Island to face Johnson & Wales on Monday, October 7th for a 7:00 p.m. match under the lights.
