Schoen Leads Wildcats to a 2-1 NECC Victory over Eagles

CHICOPEE, Mass.- Senior forward Alison Schoen (Southampton, Mass.) came off the bench to lead the Wildcats of Bay Path to a 2-to-1 victory over the Eagles of Daniel Webster College in New England Collegiate Conference field hockey action today at the Blazer Field. Schoen scored one goal in the first half and broke the tie in the second half to secure the win.

Freshman forward Ashley Seiferheld (Dover, N.Y.) drove the ball inside to Schoen to net the first goal of the game in the 23rd minute of play. Both teams would hold each other at bay headed into the halftime break.

Freshman midfielder Kathleen Zimmerman (Monroe, N.C.) would knot the game at 45:34 off a deflection from senior goalkeeper Anna Meyer (Millbrook, N.Y.).

Ten minutes later in the 55th minute of play Schoen would score off an assist by sophomore defender Casey LaMotte (Enfield, Conn.). This goal came immediately following a well placed time-out by the Wildcats' head coach Katie Jones.

Meyers would finish with two saves, facing four shots on goal. Junior defender Kristen Oliveira (Thorndike, Mass.) tallied one defensive save for the Wildcats. Freshman goal keeper Madison Wood (Suwannee, Ga.) suffered the loss  facing  11 shots 10 on goal with eight saves. Sophomore midfielder Madison Platte (Manchester, N.H.) also tallied a defensive save for the Eagles.

Bay Path is now 2-4 on the season and 1-1 in NECC play, while Daniel Webster falls to 0-5 overall and 0-1 in conference play. Bay Path will be back in action next Saturday, October 3rd hosting Becker at a 3:00 p.m. match. The Eagles host Wheelock on Sunday, October 4th at 1:00 p.m.
