Bio

The 2015 campaign will be Coach Katie Jones’s 7th season at Bay Path University.  During her tenure, she has coached the program to its first NECC tournament appearance, 6 consecutive NFHCA National Academic Squad Awards, as well as individual players to the league’s highest awards, including the 2014 Player of the Year and the 2013 and 2014 Goalie of the Year awards.  In addition, she has coached several first team All-Conference athletes and countless NECC and NFHCA National Academic Team Members.  Jones represents the NECC Conference on the NCAA Regional Advisory Field Hockey Committee.

Before coming to Bay Path, Coach Jones served as an Assistant Field Hockey Coach at Smith College while receiving her M.S. in Exercise and Sport Studies.  A native of Pine Plains, NY, Jones has played elite field hockey for the United States Midwest High Performance Center and internationally in Sydney Women’s Hockey MetroLeague.

Jones graduated with honors from Ohio Wesleyan (OWU) in 2008, where she was a standout athlete, student, and campus leader.   While at OWU,Jones was a senior captain and four-year starter for the field hockey team.  She was twice recognized as a NFHCA Regional All-American, four times as a member of the All-North Coast Athletic Conference Team, and four times as a member of the NFHCA National Academic Squad.   In addition, Jones received many accolades from OWU, including being selected as a recipient of the Athletic Department's "Top 5" award, as a member of the Dale J.Bruce Sports Honor Society, and as one of the few recipients in her graduating class of the Meek Leadership Award.  In 2013, Jones was named to the NCAC 30th Anniversary All-Decade Field Hockey Team.

 In addition to coaching field hockey at Bay Path, Jones is the Director of Health and Wellness and a faculty member in the Women Empowered as Learners and Leaders program.
