Wildcats Took One from Badgers

LONGMEADOW, Mass. -- In a rescheduled NCAA DIII regional women's softball match-up the Wildcats of Bay Path College split with the Badgers of Johnson State on a chilly afternoon at Ryan Field. Bay Path (11-7) took the first game 4-1, while Johnson State (6-8) came back and took the nightcap in 10-0 in a five innings game.

Freshman hurler Katrina Lury (Corinth, Vt.) threw a six hitter allowing only one run for the seven innings. Lury is now 4-4 on the season. Sophomore centerfielder Katherine Chabot (Brookfield, Mass.) led her team going 2-for-3 with one RBI and one run. Three other Wildcats scattered hits for the game including- sophomore Marina Rhodes (Providence, R.I.), freshman Anna Meyer (Millbrook, N.Y.) and freshman outfielder Katie Sperry (Guilford, Conn.).

Junior Keelin Dougherty (Northfield, N.H.) scored two runs for the Wildcats.

Johnson State's lone run came in the top of the third when junior outfielder Amber McCullock (Morrisville, Vt.) plated fellow junior catcher Emily Himberg (Williston, Vt.) on a double shot.

Sophomore pitcher Kristy McDonnell (Quechee, Vt.) suffered the loss with three strike-outs and four walks.

In the nightcap, the Badgers' freshman hurler Andrea Williams (Thornburn, Nova Scotia) pitched a one hitter shut-out fanning nine Wildcats. Williams is now 5-1 on the year. Himberg led the way for the Badgers going 2-for-3. Sophomore outfielder Katja Langmaid (Enosburg Falls, Vt.) tallied the game high 3 RBI.

The Wildcats freshman Maria Carta (Middletown, Conn.) was the losing pitcher giving up six hits and ten runs only four earned. She struck-out two batters.

Bay Path hosts two NECC doubleheaders this weekend Mitchell on Saturday, April 13th and Lesley on Sunday, April 14th.
