Vallee named to NFCA 2nd-Team New England Region

Longmeadow, Mass.-

Vallee honored as 2nd Team All-New England Region selection

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced its 2016-17 All-Region Teams this past Monday.  Over 300 collegiate softball student-athletes were selected by college softball coahes to receive the honors.

Lauren Vallee, junior, Bristol, Conn. was recognized for her outstanding season by the New England Softball Coaches and was selected to the 2nd Team All-New England Region.  Vallee led her team to a a 23-17 record and  an 11-7 NECC 5th place regular season finish and a 3rd place NECC Championship finish.  She also was selected by the NECC as the Player of the Year and 1st Team All-NECC as a shortstop. 

It was record setting year for Vallee and her teammates as individual and team records were broken.  Team records included; most wins (23), most runs, hits and extra base hits.

Her final statistics reflected; 

  • Led NECC in the following catagories
    • .566 Batting Average
    • 47 RBI's
    • 1.133 Slugging percentage
    • 128 Total bases
    • 11 home runs
    • 64 hits
    • 19 Doubles
    • .597 On-base percentage

As of the writing of this story Vallee also is the NCAA Division III softball leader in (over 5,000 players):

  • NCAA Leader in:
    • Slugging Percentage
    • Total Bases
    • Doubles per game
  • NCAA Ranked in Top 5 in:
    • Batting Average - #2
    • Runs per Game - #5
    • On Base percentage #5
    • Home runs per Game - #4

Vallee was just 1 of 2 NECC softball student-athletes recognized for NFCA All-Region Honors, the other being Mekenzi Golden of Lesley University also 2nd Team All New-England Region.
