Blue Jays Fly Past Wildcats in Women’s Basketball Action

HOLYOKE, Mass.—The Wildcats of Bay Path fell 75-28 in NCAA Division III women's basketball regional action tonight to the Blue Jays of St. Joseph College (Conn.) at the Bartley Center.

Blue Jay freshman guard Diamond Doe (Lynn, Mass.) came off the bench to score the game high 19 points including going 3-for-5 from downtown. Doe also chipped in four steals, two assists and four rebounds. Teammate freshman guard Mary Hyde (Derby, Conn.) also notched double figures for St. Joseph scoring 16 points.

Bay Path was led by senior forward Sam Hahn (Hadley, Mass.) with eight points and five boards.

The Wildcats simply were outhustled today on the court with St. Joe forcing 32 turnovers that resulted in made baskets each play. The Blue Jays also nailed 12 fast break lay-ups and was shooting a 49.2% from the field, while Bay Path struggled at 25.0% shooting for the game.

Both coaches cleared their benches tonight allowing 23 players to see the court tonight. Defensively, Bay Path was led by freshman forward Taylor Riley (Colchester, Vt.) who pulled down the game high eight rebounds. Riley also chipped in six points, one assist and one block.  New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Week, Justine Hook (Berwick, Penn.) also added six points as well as five boards.

Coming off the bench for the Blue Jays freshman forward Courtney Cesca (Winsted, Conn.) had her team high seven rebounds. She also added two steals and three points.

St. Joseph is now 4-1 on the season while Bay Path falls to 0-4 on the year. Bay Path will be on the road after the Thanksgiving break facing Pine Manor on Monday, November 29th at a 7:00 p.m. tip-off.
