Mountaineers Scale Wildcats in NECC Women's Hoops Action

BENNINGTON, Vt. – The Southern Vermont College women's basketball defeated Bay Path College, 75-57. SVC improved to 5-11 (3-6 NECC), while the Wildcats dropped to 0-18 (0-10 NECC).

The three straight wins for the Mountaineers marks the first time it has been achieved since the 1998-1999 season.

The first half proved key for the win for the Mountaineers outscoring the Wildcats 45-28. SVC shot an impressive 50% from the field, including 2-4 from behind the arc. The Wildcats started the second half with a 5-0 run before Coach Mike Quinn called a timeout for the Mountaineers to reset the offense.

Leading the way for the Mountaineers was Abby Riedel with a double-double accumulating, 16 points and 11 rebounds. Joa Claircius and Rita Hall added 15 and 10 points respectively while Christie Henry dominated the boards with 10 rebounds.

Justine Hook led all scorers with 25 points. Brittany Alexander added 10 points and Analiz Garcia had seven rebounds.

SVC is back in action on Saturday, January 29th on the road against NECC opponent Newbury College at 2 p.m. Bay Path also resumes action on Saturday when it travels to Daniel Webster.
