Becker Takes First Conference Win from Bay Path

HOLYOKE, Mass.-  In the New England Collegiate Conference season opener the Wildcats of Bay Path College (1-5, 0-1) fell to the Hawks of Becker College (1-5, 1-0) 72-57 today at the Bartley Center in today's women's basketball action.  Senior guard Justin Hook (Berwick, Penn.) and senior forward Kayla Skiffington (East Longmeadow, Mass.) led the Wildcats with 16 points apiece.

Becker was led by freshman guard Elizabeth McNiff (Leominster, Mass.) with the game high 19 points. Two other Hawks nailed double figures en route to their first victory on the season and first conference win. Senior guard Haley Ooms (Valatie, N.Y.) was not far off McNiff with 18 points while adding eight assists. Junior guard Brooke Martel (Griswold, Conn.) added 15 points four steals and four rebounds.

Hook led the way defensively for Bay path with nine rebounds, coming off the bench sophomore center Gladys Reed (Hamden, Conn.) finished with seven points and seven rebounds, while freshman starting forward Briana Kujawski (Webster, Mass.) also had seven points.

The Wildcats will be back in action on Thursday, December 5th traveling to Wheelock for a 7:30 conference match, while NECC rivals' Becker faces Regis at a 6:00 p.m. tip.
