Mountaineers Scale Wildcats 73-58

HOLYOKE, Mass.-  Bay Path fell 73-58 to New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) opponent Southern Vermont tonight at the Brantley Center. Mountaineer sophomore forward Kala MacKenzie (Fair Haven, Vt.) led all players with 22 points and chipping in 13 boards. Wildcats' senior forward Kayla Skiffington (East Longmeadow, Mass.) topped her team once again with 18 points and 11 rebounds.

Coming off the bench as the only Bay Path reservist, freshman forward Briana Kujawski (Webster, Mass.) really stepped up as a scorer finishing with 13 points. Kujawski nailed a season first three treys, going 3-for-5 from the arc.

Two other Mountaineers scored in the double figures with sophomore guard Amber Flagg (Windsor, Conn.) finishing with 15 points, seven rebounds, three assists and the game high six steals. Not far behind was fellow sophomore forward Sarah McDonald (Cohoes, N.Y.) scoring 12 points. Two other Southern Vermont players each scored seven points.

Wildcat guards' freshman Aaliyah Gordon (Springfield, Mass.)  and junior Katherine Chabot (Brookfield, Mass.) both finished with 7 points. Junior guard Toni Alexander (Enfield, Conn.) added game high seven assists for the contest. Sophomore center Gladys Reed (Hampden, Conn.) pulled down a game high 13 rebounds while adding nine points for the Wildcats.

Bay Path falls to 7-16 on the season and 6-10 in the NECC, while Southern Vermont improves to 6-18 overall and 4-13 in conference play. Both teams play Saturday, February 15th with Bay Path travelling to Newbury for noon start, while Southern Vermont hosts Mitchell at a 1:00 pm tip-off.
