Wildcats Fall to Blue Jays in 2014 Home Opener

HOLYOKE, Mass.- The Wildcats of Bay Path University hosted the Blue Jays of the University of Saint Joseph (CT) in their 2014-15 home opener tonight at the Bartley Center in NCAA DIII Women's basketball action falling 70-41. The Blue Jays senior forward Heather Framski (Prospect, Conn.) led all players with 16 points and 11 rebounds marking her 1,000th career point at 16:29 in the second half of the game. Bay Path was led by junior newcomer Dallas Jackson (Springfield, Mass.) who also managed a double double scoring 13 points and pulling down 10 boards.

The Wildcats had a rough start only managing to score 15 points in the first half to St. Joseph's 43 points. Framski led the offensive spark for the Blue Jays notching 14 of her 16 points in the first 20 minutes. Despite the rough start Bay Path managed to stay focused in the second half scoring 26 points to their opponents 27 points.

Saint Joseph saw a lot of action from their bench tonight with senior forward Lindsey Dionne (Portland, Conn.) scoring 12 points, while fellow reservist freshman guard Kara Thibodeau (Chaplin, Conn.) added 10 points.

Jackson and sophomore guard Aaliyah Gordon (Springfield, Mass.), who added 10 points and five rebounds sparked to late in the second half. Jackson and starting point guard freshman Kaylee Herring (Worcester, VT.) found the spot downtown each nailing two treys in the final ten minutes of play. Herring finished seven points and four assists. Sophomore small forward Frankie Wauneka (Easthampton, Mass.) rounded out the scoring for the Wildcats totaling eight pounds and adding eight rebounds for the night.

The Wildcats fall to 0-3 on the season, while the Blue Jays are now 2-1 overall. Bay Path is back in action traveling to Pine Manor on Monday, November 24th for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off, while University of Saint Joseph hosts Mitchell College on Thursday, November 20th for a 7:00 p.m. start.
