Wildcats Defeated the Frogs 60 to 29 in Women’s Basketball Action

HOLYOKE, Mass.- The Wildcats of Bay Path University opened up their 2015-2016 season taking down the Frogs of Hampshire College 60-29 in women's basketball action at the Bartley Center on the campus of HCC today. Despite a new flow of the game including four ten minute quarters instead of two halves the Wildcats adjusted nicely under interim Head Coach Steve Smith. Bay Path had three players in double figures including junior forward Dallas Jackson (Springfield, Mass.) who topped all players with 16 points, 11 rebounds and six steals.

Senior center and first year basketball player Elizabeth Haylette (Terryville, Conn.) was one rebound shy of a double double putting up 14 points adding nine rebounds and one block.  Fellow junior center Briana Kujawski (Webster, Mass.) came off the bench strong scoring 11 points and notching five boards also chipping in four steals.

Senior guard Shelby Branam (Ayer, Mass.) led Hampshire with nine points. Freshman center Lena Trieger (Chicago, Ill.) wasn't far behind with seven points and eight rebounds. Defensively, freshman guard Adelle Pitsas (Milford, N.H.) had eleven rebounds, five points and three steals.

Junior guard Aaliyah Gordon (Springfield, Mass.) was also a force under the glass pulling down the game high 12 rebounds, while adding five points. Junior guard Brenna Roy (Stafford Springs, Conn.) chipped in seven rebounds, six assists and two points; while sophomore point guard Kaylee Herring (Worcester, Vt.) had three points, two assist, two steals and two rebounds.

Bay Path out hustled Hampshire in the paint notching 58 rebounds to 35 rebounds for the game.  The Wildcats had 18 steals to the Frogs 11 for the forty minutes.

Freshman forwards Samantha Drapinski (Malden, Mass.) and Haleigh Bassett (Millers Falls, Mass.) combined for seven points. Sophomore small forward Bethany Rogers (Plymouth, Mass.,) rounded out the scoring for the Wildcats with two points and two rebounds.

Bay Path is now 1-0 on the season and Hampshire falls to 2-2. The Wildcats will be on the road next Tuesday, November 17th for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off at St. Joseph's (Conn.).
