Nighthawks Fly Past Wildcats in NECC Action

HOLYOKE, Mass.- Despite falling 61-46 to New England Collegiate Conference rival the Nighthawks of Newbury College junior forward Dallas Jackson (Springfield, Mass.)topped all players with 16 points and a stellar 22 rebounds. Newbury is now 4-9 on the season and 3-3 in NECC play, while Bay Path University falls to 3-9 overall and 0-5 in the league.

Junior guard Brenna Roy (Stafford Springs, Conn.) led the way from downtown going 4-for-13 from the three-point line finishing with 14 points. Roy also had seven rebounds and three assists for her 40 minutes of play.

Newbury's freshman forward Savannah Olsen (Battle Creek, Mich.) had the only double double for her team with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Coming off the bench, the Nighthawks sixth man freshman guard Tina Babcock (Ayer, Mass.) wasn't far behind in the scoring department tallying 13 points nailing three treys.

Sophomore forward Destiny Spears (Arnold, Md.) and senior guard Jovanna Sandifer (Boston, Mass.) each finished with nine points apiece. Spears also had seven steals and nine rebounds.

Newbury out hustled the Wildcats in offensive boards scoring 14 points in second chance shots to Bay Path's 7 for the night. They also utilized the paint scoring 30 points driving the lane, while Bay Path only had 16 points in the paint.

Senior center Elizabeth Haylette (Terryville, Conn) tallied eight points and three rebounds.

Bay Path travels to Becker Saturday, January 16^th for a 1:00 p.m. tip-off, while Newbury hosts Daniel Webster at noon.
