The Wildcats Fall to NECC Opponent Regis 21-2 in Home Opener

LONGMEADOW, Mass.- Bay Path College hosted the Pride of Regis College in their home opener women's lacrosse match falling 21-2 today at Ryan Field.  The Wildcat Megan duo covered both halves each scoring a goal for Bay Path. Junior midfielder Megan Squadrito (Ellington, Conn.) broke up the Pride shut-out with only 14 seconds remaining in the first half finding the back of the net unassisted.

Regis scored 14 goals in the first senior midfielder Stacy Burns (Waltham, Mass.) tallying the first two in just the first two minutes of play. Burns finished with a hat-trick scoring one more at 19:46.

At 26:45, sophomore midfielder Sam Salamone (Milford, Mass.) scored the third goal of the game and the eventual game winner on an unassisted shot inside. Salmone finished with two goals and two assists. Leading the way for the Pride was sophomore attacker Abbie Wehr (Suwannee, Ga.) notching four goals and two assists for the day. Junior midfielder Rachel Wong (Wakefield, Mass.) also scored two goals and two assists for Regis.

Junior midfielder Megan Tancredi (Newington, Conn.) finished off the scoring for the Wildcats in the final seven minutes of play. The Pride managed to score seven more goals in the second half. Bay Path unfortunately had to play down players the entire sixty minutes of play.

Bay Path is now 0-4 on the season 0-2 in NECC play, Regis advances to 6-3 overall and 2-0 in conference play. Regis will travel to Salem State for a 7:00 p.m. night game on Tuesday, April 8th, while Bay Path heads across to Mount Ida on Thursday, April 10th for a 4:00 p.m. game time.
