Wildcats Suffer Loss to Badgers

LONGMEADOW, Mass.- Freshman midfielder Nicole Crossman (Winsted, Conn.) netted the lone goal for the Bay Path Wildcats topping Bay Path with two goals for her young collegiate career. Bay Path fell 7-1  to the Badgers of Johnson State College in the afternoon NCAA DIII regional women's soccer match at Ryan Field.

Badger sophomore Chelsea Hostetter (Morrisville, Vt.) struck first at 2:43 off a cross inside from freshman teammate Nicole Bordeau (Sanford, Maine).

Crossman would knot the game at 17:46. Crossman shelled a corner kick pass to sophomore Lindsey DeFord (Enfield, Conn.) who passed it back for the goal.

Coming off the bench,  sophomore Kyleigh Joseph (Hancok, N.H.) struch again for the Badgers in the 35th minute lofted a shot over sophomore keeper Melina Isdith's (Rego Park, N.Y.) head to notch the eventual game winner. Junior midfielder Ally Bataille (Waterbury, Vt.) recorded the assist.

Bay Path was able to maintain a great defense holding Johnson State to only two heading into the half. The Badgers came back after the ten minute break and proceeded to score five more goals while shutting down the Wildcats offense.

Isdith finished with eleven saves.  While both Badger keepers Kelly Lucia (West Chazy, N.Y) and Amber McCullock (Morrisville, Vt.) tallied four saves.

Bay Path is now 0-3 on the season, while Johnson State is 2-0. The Wildcats  travel to St. Joseph (Conn.) tomorrow September 12th for a 4:00 p.m. match.
