Becker Defeats Bay Path in First NECC Match

LONGMEADOW, Mass.- Wildcats sophomore midfielder Keelin Dougherty (Northfield, N.H.) struck first breaking up a scoreless game for Bay Path. Unfortunately, for the Wildcats the Hawks of Becker College came back to score four more goals to win the New England Collegiate Conference match-up. Becker won 4-1 in another NCAA DIII match today at Ryan Field.

Becker junior midfielder Jodi Theriault (Woodstock, Conn.) answered the call  in the 49th minute knotting it up 1-1. Freshman midfielder Mindy Moreau (Canterbury, Ct.) scored the game winner  in the 52nd winner notching her first collegiate goal off a cross from junior midfielder Justine LeBlanc (Thompson, Conn.).

Junior forward Caroline Plunkett (Belle Harbor, N.Y.) drew sophomore keeper Melina Isdith (Rego Park, N.Y.) out for an open net insurance goal. Becker would tally one more goal in the 86th minute when senior defender Morgan Hazen (Woodstock, Vt.) found the back of the net.

Becker is now 3-4-1 and 1-0 in the NECC, while Bay Path falls to 1-6-0 and 1-1 in conference play. The Wildcats will host Anna Maria on Thursday, September 29th for a 3:30 p.m. start.
