Bison Herd Past Wildcats in Non-Conference Women’s Soccer Action

LONGMEADOW, Mass. The Wildcats of Bay Path fell 6-0 to the Bison of Nichols College today in NCAA DIII Women's regional soccer action today at Ryan field in a rescheduled match from earlier this season.

Nichols senior midfielder Laurel Houle (Brooklyn, Conn.) took advantage of a misplayed shot by her teammate and found the back of the net for the first goal and her first of the season at 38:55 on the clock.

Fellow senior Maria DiTommaso (Rindge, N.H.) took advantage of another blocked shot by Houle in the 34th minute scoring the second goal of the match.

Coming off the bench, senior forward Jennifer Reichert (Northbridge, Mass.) scored the next two goals for the Bison. Senior midfielder Kate Dyson (Danielson, Conn.) had the assist on the third goal, while the fourth and final goal of the half was a solo shot.

Freshman midfielder Michelle Gardner (Ayer, Mass.) struck again in the second half for Nichols taking advantage of another misplayed shot by freshman midfielder Kelsey Murphy (Maynard, Mass.) in the 53rd minute of play.

The Bison' final insurance goal came at 80:40 freshman Shelby Aminti (Pepperell, Mass.) off a cross by fellow freshman Alyssa Tosti (Douglas, Mass.).

Bay Path's four shots on goal came from freshman forward Nicole Crossman (Winsted, Mass.), senior Dajara Wright (Chicopee, Mass.) and sophomore Sam Bujak (Suffield, Conn.).

 Freshman keeper Marina Rhodes (Providence, R.I.) suffered the loss facing 40 shots, 23 on goal with 15 saves. Nichols goalkeeper Maureen Lynch (Holbrook, Mass.) earned the shut-out with four saves.

Bay Path is now 2-9 overall, while Nichols improves to 5-5-2 overall. The Wildcats are on the road facing Regis on Saturday, October 15th at a 12:00 p.m. NECC match.
