Blazers Bolt Past Wildcats 8-to-1

LONGMEADOW, Mass.- The Wildcats of Bay Path University fell 8-1 in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women's soccer action today against local rivals the Blazers of Elms College. Despite the tough loss, senior midfielder Megan Tancredi (Newington, Conn.) broke up the shut-out in the 33^rd minute of play. Tancredi who had just checked into the game took advantage of a well placed cross by fellow senior Abby Krobot (Pittsburgh, Penn.) who had also just subbed in for the Wildcats.

Elms' junior midfielder Sevonnah LaRochelle (Chicopee, Mass.) garnered a hat-trick en route their 8-1 victory.

Junior forward Rachel Mick (Granby, Mass.) struck first at 5:24 off a corner kick by sophomore midfielder Jackie Soucia (Belchertown, Mass.) with a header.  Freshman midfielder Kelsey Shea (Belchertown, Mass.) scored next at 12:16 on the clock.  Freshman midfielder Danielle Asklar (Berlin, Conn.) found the back of the net in the 17^th minute of play. Sophomore forward Angelina Estrada (Springfield, Mass.) recorded the assist.

Sophomore forward Brie Voight (Springfield, Mass.) scored the Blazers fourth goal. Coming off the bench, sophomore defender Lexi Vieira (Warren, R.I.) had the assist. LaRochelle scored Elms' next three goals with Tancredi's in between. Sophomore reservist Madison Jung (Stafford Springs, Conn.) recorded the assist on the sixth goal.

The Wildcats managed to keep the Blazers from scoring in the second half until a made penalty kick in the 76^th minute by Jung.

Junior goalie Briana Kujawski (Webster, Mass.) suffered the loss faced 27 shots, 19 of which were on goal with nine saves. The Blazers' starting keeper Alexa Rinaudo (Bellmore, N.Y.) shard the win with junior Meeghan O'Connor (Fall River, Mass.).

Bay Path is now 5-9-0 on the season and 2-4-0 in the NECC, while Elms advances to 11-3-1 on the season and 5-1-0 in conference play.
