Tancredi, Mikolajczak, Briggs, Balicki and Krobot Honored in Final Home Contest
LONGMEADOW, Mass.- Five senior members of the Wildcats' women's soccer program played their final games on Ryan Field tonight unfortunately falling 3-0 to New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) opponents the Mountaineers of Southern Vermont College (10-5-1, 6-1-1). Midfielder/Forward Megan Tancredi (Newington, Conn.), midfielder Katie Mikolajczak (Griswold, Conn.), defender Brittany Briggs (Arlington, Vt. ), defender Alina Balicki (Chicopee, Mass.) and midfielder Abby Krobot (Pittsburgh, Penn.) were honored for their four years of dedication to the Bay Path program. Bay Path is now 5-10-1 overall and 2-5-1 in the NECC.
Three separate Mountaineers scored for during the 90 minutes of rain and wet conditions. Freshman defender Nay Cerda (West Islip, N.Y.) struck first off a rebound shot at 7:39 scoring the eventual game winner. Three minutes later in a similar play senior midfielder Jess Magee (Sound Beach, N.Y.) also scored off a rebound shot with a high hard shot past Bay Path's keeper.
The Wildcats would come back after the half on a more offensive effort. The Mountaineers would score a final time in the 51st minute of play when freshman forward Molly Madore (Higganum, Conn.) finally netted a goal. Madore tallied six shots for Southern Vermont. Sophomore goalkeeper Melissa Mascari (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) recorded the win with four saves.
Both Tancredi and Briggs had shots for the contest. Junior goalie Briana Kujawski (Webster, Mass.) suffered the loss with six saves on nine shots on goal facing 18 total shots.
Bay Path travels to Newbury on Halloween October 31st for a 7:00 p.m. match, while Southern Vermont faces Lesley at 1:00 p.m. for their final regular season match also on Halloween.
Tancredi currently has played in every game in her four years with 68 total. She has 11 goals, five assists and 27 points taking 88 shots during her stellar four years. Briggs is not far behind only missing two games during the last four years with 66 games played, four goals, three assists, 11 points and 22 shots taken. Miko has 46 games played, one goal, one assist , four points and 16 shots taken. Krobot played in 55 games, tallying two assists for four points. Balicki saw time in 21 games with one shot.
