Bay Path Drops NECC Soccer Contest to Lesley

LONGMEADOW, Mass. – The Lesley University women's soccer team received goals from four different players en route to a 6-0 victory over Bay Path University in New England Collegiate Conference play Saturday  afternoon at Ryan Field.


The Lynx scored twice in a 65-second span to take a quick 2-0 lead out of the gate.  Freshman Katelyn Scott (Glendora, Calif.) scored off a pass from senior Cassidy Hopkins (Porter, Texas) pass just six minutes and 57 seconds into the contest, while Hopkins booted home a pass from Scott just a short while later.


Behind a four-save effort from freshman Caitlyn Esposito (East Haven, Conn.), the Bay Path defense kept the Lynx off the board for the next 61 minutes, before sophomore Jordan Mitchell (Santa Rosa, Calif.) scored off a free kick at the 69-minute mark to extend the Lesley lead to 3-0.


Two goals from sophomore Samantha Bessey (Algonquin, Ill.) and a second tally form Mitchell closed out the scoring. 

Senior Kristen Lynch (Belchertown, Mass.) took a team-best two shots for Bay Path.


Lesley outshot the Wildcats 15-5, while Bay Path held a 3-1 edge in corner kicks.


Bay Path (6-4-0, 2-2-0 NECC) saw its two-match winning streak snapped and will return to action at Becker College Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.Lesley (8-4-2, 3-1-0 NECC) will host Regis Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
