Wildcats Land Eagles 4-1 in NECC Women's Soccer Action

LONGMEADOW, Mass.- The Wildcats of Bay Path defeated New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) opponent the Eagles of Daniel Webster 4-1 in Women's Soccer Action today at Ryan Field. Junior forward Elena Helming (Maplewood, N.J.) struck first at 1:21 on the clock to put the wildcats on the board. Sophomore froward Jailinne Ruiz (Haldey, Mass.) scored the second goal in the first half at 18:16 which would eventually become the game winner.

Both teams came out of the half playing tight defense for the next 20 minutes until senior midfielder Kristen Lynch (Belchertown, Mass.)  broke up the drought at 75:43 on the clock with a nice high shot past the keeper. Freshman midfielder Joanna Feliciano (Springfield, Mass.) scored another insurance goal two minutes later for Bay Path's fourth and final goal. 

Junior forward Megan Blongy (Rutland, Vt.) broke up the shut-out in the 84th minute with a break away goal. Bay Path's starting keeper Alma Rizvani (Prospect, Conn.) pulled off the win after returning to net duty. She faced 17 shots with seven on goal making six saves. Eagle's goalie sophomore Stephanie Evans (Washington, Iowa) suffered the loss despite having 13 saves facing 17 shots on goal. She saw 41 shots by the Wildcats.

Bay Path is now 7-5 and 3-3 in the NECC, while Daniel Webster falls to 1-11 overall and 1-5 in conference play.
