NECC Top Ranked Bay Path Falls in Season Opener to the Sage Colleges

LONGMEADOW, Mass.- The Bay Path Wildcats opened up the season taking two out of the three doubles only to stumble in singles action falling 6-3 to the Sage Colleges Gators today in NCAA Division III women's tennis action.

The 2010 NECC Player of the Year senior Sarah Costa (Tiverton, R.I.) and her sophomore partner Symone Watson (Hamden, Conn.) were able to defeat the tandem action of junior Mackenzie Riley (Albany, N.Y.) and junior Isabella Pericone (Scotia, N.Y.) 8-6 in the #1 spot. The Wildcats also took the #3 doubles set with senior Tara Mullane (Pomfret, Conn.) and sophomore Teanna Montoya (Edgartown, Mass.) 8-0.

Mullane was undefeated on the day also taking down her opponent Allison Argust (East Greenbush, N.Y.) 6-2, 6-0 in the #6 singles action.
