Bay Path Falls to Becker in NECC Match

LONGMEADOW, Mass.- The Bay Path Wildcats hosted New England Collegiate Conference rival Becker College today in women's tennis action where the Wildcats fell 6-3 to the Hawks.

Bay Path won the first doubles and the five and six singles falling in all other flights.

Senior Sarah Costa (Tiverton, R.I.) and her sophomore partner Symone Watson (Hamden, Conn.) were able to defeat the tandem action of senior Megan Nessen  (Levittown, Penn.) and senior Laura Mimms (Ashland, Mass.) 8-2 in the #1 spot. Becker won the #2 doubles 8-1 and # doubles 8-6.

Nessen won #1 singles 6-2, 6-4 over Costa and freshman Nicole Connolly (Scarborough, Maine) took the #2 singles flight 6-0, 6-1 over Watson. Mimms won at the #3 spot 6-2, 6-0 over freshman Stephanie Morin (Springfield, Mass.). Senior Shauna Mc Nally (Worcester, Mass.) also won for the Hawks defeating the Wildcats sophomore Teanna Montoya (Edgartown, Mass.) 6-4, 6-0.

Senior Tara Mullane (Pomfret, Conn.) took the #6 singles 6-3, 6-4 from the Hawks' senior Jessica Burdick (Clinton, Mass.). Rounding out the flights was a tough won comeback from senior Lianna Loveitt (Gorham, Maine) 4-6, 6-3, 8-6 in the #5 spot over senior Lianna Woodbury (South Dennis, Mass.)

Becker is now  10-1 and 5-0 in conference play, while Bay Path is 5-2 overall 2-1 in the NECC.
