Costa, Watson, Loveitt and Morin Named All NECC
ATTLEBORO, Mass.-- Senior Sarah Costa (Tiverton, R.I.), sophomore Symone Watson (Hamden, Conn.) named All New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) first team, while teammates senior Lianna Loveitt (Gorham, Maine) and freshman Stephanie Morin (Springfield, Mass.) receive honorable mention All-NECC for their 2011 women's tennis campaign.
Watson a second year Wildcat member finished the season 9-4 and 7-1 in conference play at the #2 spot, while teaming with Costa in #1 doubles 12-2 and 7-1 in the NECC. Watson was named to both Singles and Doubles first team. Waston's two-year record is 16-8 in singles and 14-5 for doubles.
Costa, the 2010 NECC Player of the Year, finished 6-8 at the #1 singles spot for her final season.
Costa concluded a very celebrated collegiate career for Bay Path. Costa was named 1st team All-NECC all four years. She earned 1st team singles honors for 2008, 2009 and 2010 and 1st team doubles for 2008 and 2011. In 2008, Costa had a perfect doubles record going 12-0 and last season she went undefeated in singles play at 11-0. For her career, she has also picked up numerous NECC Player and Rookie of the Week honors and has earned All-Tournament honors for the past four seasons. She finishes with a 40-14 overall singles record and 39-10 in doubles.
Freshman Morin earned honorable mention for both singles and doubles action. Morin went 8-5 on the season and 6-2 in league play at the #3 spot and partnering with Loveitt they went 8-6 overall and 5-3 in the NECC at the #2 doubles spot. Four year member, Loveitt who was perfect in Conference play in singles finished with a 8-0 record at the #5 spot with the best record on her team at 12-1 overall.
Loveitt also finished her four year career with a winning record just like Costa. Loveitt was also named NECC Player of the Week along with garnering All-Tournament honors for two seasons. She finished with a 23-14 overall record and 24-12 in conference.
Becker senior Megan Nessen was chosen as the
New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Year in a vote by
the conference coaches. Nessen posted a 14-2 record in conference
competition at #1 singles and doubles this season. Nessen was
honored as a first team selection as both a singles and doubles
player.
Becker first-year Nicole Connolly earned
conference Rookie of the Year honors. Connolly went undefeated in
number two singles action this season (8-0) and went 1-0 in number
one doubles and 6-1 in number two doubles.
Becker's David Bostick was named NECC Coach of the
Year after leading his squad to an unbeaten regular season and the
NECC tournament title.
Lesley received the Team Sportsmanship Award.
NECC all-conference selections are determined by a vote of the
conference coaches.
