Wildcats Claw Bluejays 3-1 in Volleyball Action

WEST HARTFORD, Conn.- Senior outside hitter Nadine Harkless (Westfield, Mass.) led the way for Bay Path hitting .308 with ten kills, 13 digs and three block solos. The Wildcats won 3-1 over the BlueJays of St. Joseph (Conn.). The Wildcats easily shut down the BlueJays in the first two games 25-18 and 25-21. St. Joe came back to take the third set in tie-break fashion 26-24 to force the fourth set. Bay Path would rally and win the match with a final game score of 25-21.

Junior setter Ashley Provost (Ludlow, Mass.) paced the Wildcats with 24 assists, 12 digs and 2 service aces. Senior outside hitter Vanessa Chaplin (Attleboro, Mass.) also covered the floor defensively with ten digs and added four kills. Chaplin hit .214 for the match. Rounding out the defense was sophomore middle hitter Kate Bartels (Dalton, Mass.) with 12 digs also chipping in four kills.

Saint Joseph sophomore Amanda Dondero (Mastic. N.Y.) led the Blue Jays offensive attack with a team-best 10 kills. Ciara Perez (Manchester, Conn.) and Jessica Patrizi (Beacon Falls, Conn.) had six kills apiece. Patrizi also had a team-high 28 digs and nine assists.

Bay Path is now 1-4, while St. Joseph falls to 1-3.  Bay Path will be back in action on Saturday, September 10th on the road facing Anna Maria and Castleton in a tri-match.
