Wildcats Take Two at Bard Tri-Match

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Bay Path was the only team to win both matches today in the Bard College Tri-Match. Host Bard fell 3-0 to Manhattanville College in the opening match (25-18, 25-19 and 25-18).  Bay Path then took Manhattanville 3-1 (25-16, 18-25, 25-17, 25-21), while finishing off the day shutting down Bard 3-0 (25-20, 25-18 and 25-22).

Senior outside hitter Nadine Harkless (Westfield, Mass.) was on fire in the victory over Manhattanville posting an incredible .500 attack percentage with 18 kills doubling the second closest persons kill tally of the match. Harkless also added 20 digs, five service aces and two block solos. Junior setter Ashley Provost (Ludlow, Mass.) finished with 26 assists and 12 digs.  All six players for the Wildcats went on a defense tear each tallying digs in double figures combining for 86 total. Senior outside hitter Vanessa Chaplin (Attleboro, Mass.) had 14 digs, freshman outside hitter Kacie Bayreuther (East Lyme, Conn.) had 12 digs while sophomore middle hitter Kate Bartels (Dalton, Mass.) pitched in 15 digs for the match.

In the victory over host Bard, Provost led defensively with eight digs. Offensively, freshman outside hitter Xochitl (Allie) Esquivel (Irving, Tex.) led all player with a .417 hitting percentage. Harkless had nine kills, six service aces and three block solos.

Bay Path is now 5-5 on the season. This is the Wildcats first .500 plus season in over ten years with second year head coach Natalie Stothart leading the charge for the maroon and white.
