Lancers Cut Wildcats Four Match Winning Streak

HOLYOKE, Mass.- The Lancers of Worcester State break up a match winning streak for the Wildcats defeating Bay Path 3-0 tonight at the Bartley Center in regional women's volleyball action. Worcester State took all three games 25-10, 25-19 and 25-16.

Worcester State junior middle blocker Becky Lebel (Millbury, Mass.) led all hitters on the night with nine kills and a .438 attack percentage. She also added two service aces and nine digs for the match high 11 points. Defensively sophomore Libero Vicki O'Brien (Canton, Mass.) topped all players with 19 digs. O'Brien also finished with two service aces. Coming off the bench, sophomore setter Megan Brown (Dartmouth, Mass.) finished with 22 assists and five digs.

Starting setter Joanne Grenier (Orange, Mass.) played the first set tallying ten assists and .667 attack percentage with two dumps. Two Lancers added seven kills apiece including freshman outside hitter Alyssa Jasper (Rockland, Mass.) and junior right side hitter Robyn Linscott (Weymouth, Mass.). Linscott had no errors for the match hitting a sizzling .538 attack percentage.

NECC Player of the Week, senior middle blocker Nadine Harkless (Westfield, Mass.) led the Wildcats with six kills, 13 digs and two block solos.  Junior setter Ashley Provost (Ludlow, Mass.) finished with nine assists.

Bay Path is now 5-6 overall, while Worcester State is now 6-6 on the season. The Wildcats will be back in action on Saturday, September 24th facing NECC rival Becker along with Mass. Maritime in a tri-match hosted by the Hawks with the first match starting at 11:00 a.m.
