City College of New York Scratches out 3-3 Win Over Bay Path College

New Haven, CT --- The City College of New York women's volleyball team split their two matches at the Albertus Magnus College Tri-match on Saturday afternoon at the Cosgrove Marcus Messer Athletic Center, defeating the Wildcats of Bay Path College, 3-2 (24-26, 25-18, 25-27, 25-17, 15-13) before falling to the host Falcons 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-22). The Beavers of CCNY are now 5-6 on the season.

Against the Wildcats, the Beavers were down after the first and third sets, but never gave up, finally pulling away in the fifth and decisive fifth set. Down 13-9 in the fifth set, CCNY rallied behind the serve of freshman outside hitter Joanne Ling (Staten Island, NY). The Beavers scored six straight points to close out the match. Ling finished with seven service aces, six kills, 14 set assists and 15 digs. Junior outside hitter Leticia Marotti (Brooklyn, NY) finished with match-highs in kills (21) and service aces (nine), with a team-high 19 digs. Junior middle blocker Saye-Chantl Joseph (Brooklyn, NY) contributed 12 kills, 13 digs and two block assists.

Facing off against the Falcons, CCNY couldn't quite close out any of three hotly contested sets. Joseph had a match-high 19 kills and nine digs while Marotti contributed 11 kills and three service aces. Freshman libero Veralucia Quispe (New Rochelle, NY) delivered a team-high 13 digs while sophomore setter Victoria Del Toro (Bronx, NY) set the table with 24 set assists.

CCNY is back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Old Westbury College for a 7:00 PM match.
