Westfield State Took Two Wins, While Host Bay Path wins one for the Tri-Match

HOLYOKE, Mass.- Bay Path was led by freshman middle hitter Lauren Vallee (Bristol, Conn.) tallying 20 kills, 14 digs and two service aces. Junior middle hitter Elizabeth Haylette (Terryville, Conn.) was not far behind with 17 kills, while sophomore right side hitter Jennifer Pham (Springfield, Mass.) led all Wildcat hitters with a .278 attack percentage. Senior libero Kacie Bayreuther (East Lyme, Conn.) notched 32 digs on the day and sophomore setter Aaliyah Gordon (Springfield, Mass.) finished with 25 sets.

GAME ONE: Westfield State took the first match 3-0 (25-19, 25-14 and 25-21) from host Bay Path. Freshman outside hitter Victoria Sutaphen (Holden, Mass.) led her team with 8 kills. Bay Path was led by Haylette who topped all hitters with 12 kills. By Path struggled in the second match with only five kills, while Westfield State dominated on the serve all day with 10 aces in this match.

GAME TWO: The Owls took three sets (25-4, 25-16, 25-9) from the Eagles.

Westfield again came out strong and dominated on the serve against the Eagles with 17 service aces including keeping the serve in the first set for 14 points. Junior outside hitter Shannon Shea (Chelmsford, Mass.) was a force to be reckoned with at the serve nabbing six aces in the first five minutes of play.

Sutphen again led with six kills. Green Mountain's libero Celeste Bowers (Morgan City, La.) tallied seven digs.

GAME THREE: Vallee dominated this match with a .348 hitting percentage adding 11 kills and nine digs helping the Wildcats defeat the Eagles in three straight sets (25-17, 25-23, 25-12). Pham added seven kills, while Haylette chipped in five for the match. The Eagles senior middle blocker Madison Wage (Chesire, Conn.) finished with a .417 attack percentage.

Bay Path is now 2-8, Westfield State is 6-8, while Green Mountain falls to 1-8.
