Bay Path Sweeps Pine Manor and Johnson State Tri-Match

HOLYOKE, Mass.-  The Wildcats of Bay Path University hosted their first tri-match of the 2015 women's volleyball season under new head coach and four-year stand-out Kaycie Bayreuther  taking game one 4-1 over Pine Manor 19-25, 25-16, 25-12 and 25-13. Game two was won by the Johnson State Badgers in a long fought battle 21-25, 25-17, 25-20, 26-28 and 5-15.

GAME ONE: BPU 3, PMC 1
The Wildcats were led sophomore middle hitter Lauren Vallee (Bristol, Conn.) with 13 kills and eight digs. Vallee had a .300 attack percentage. Freshman right side newcomer Taylor Heinbokel (Agawam, Mass.) was one shy of a double double finishing with a sizzling .438 attack percentage tallying 9 kills and a team high 14 digs. Senior middle hitter Elizabeth Haylette (Terryville, Conn.)  and sophomore outside hitter Jennifer Pham (Springfield, Mass.) each finished with 6 kills.

Pine Manor was led by senior right side Natasia Franklin  (Windsor, CT.) with 11 kills.  Sophomore setter Ashley Whiteshield (Seward, Alaska) had 18 assists for the match.

GAME TWO: JSC 3, PMC2

In the second match of the day, the Badgers prevailed in a five game duel defeating the Gators 3-2.  Johnson State was led by junior outside hitter Breanna Laughlin (San Jacinto, Calif.) with 18 kills and a .293 attack percentage.  Laughlin tallied a double double with 12 digs. Junior defensive specialist Heather White (East Fairfield, Vt.) with 18 digs while the freshman setter Emily Peterson (Gorham, Maine) had 24 sets.

Pin Manor was led by freshman outside hitter Jenna Hall (Glens Falls, NY) with 14 kills.

GAME THREE: BPC 3, JSC 0

The Wildcats complete the sweep taking Johnson State 25-21, 25-17, 25-14. Vallee again led with nine kills and nine digs, while Haylette had six kills for the match. Pham added five kills. Freshman setter Lexi Cears (Agawam, Mass.) totaled 22 assists.

The Badgers Laughlin had seven kills and 11 digs.

The Wildcats advance to 2-1 on the year, Johnson State goes 1-2 and Pine Manor is now 0-4 overall.
