Bay Path Takes Southern Vermont in NECC Opener

HOLYOKE, Mass.- The Wildcats were led by senior middle hitter Elizabeth  Haylette (Terryville, Conn.) and junior right side hitter Paige Marshall (New Britain, Conn.) with a sizzling .500 attack percentage. Bay Path defeated Southern Vermont in three straight games 25-14, 25-20 and 25-11.  

Haylette topped her team with eight kills, while Marshall had five kills.

Sophomore outside hitter Lauren Vallee (Bristol, Conn) and junior right side hitter Aaliyah Gordon (Springfield, Mass.) each chipped in seven kills apiece.  Gordon added five assists and finished with a .333 attack percentage. Vallee had seven digs, two blocks and three aces for the match.

The Mountaineers were led by freshman right side hitter Alycia Stevens (Hudson Falls, N.Y.) with a double double recording 10 kills and 10 digs. Junior outside hitter Brin Goldman (Christiansted, Virgin Islands)had eight kills and three digs.

Freshman setter Lexi Cears (Agawam, Mass.) added 17 assists, while freshman Libero Jo Nazario (Springfield, Mass.) had eight digs and three aces.

The Wildcats are now 6-6 on the season and 1-0 in New England Collegiate Conference play, while Southern Vermont falls to 1-8 overall and 0-1 in conference action.  The Mountaineers host Elms on Tuesday, October 6th at a 7:00 p.m. match.  Bay Path travels to Regis on the same day and time.
