Bay Path Falls 3-0 to Eastern Nazarene in NECC Volleyball Action

EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass.- Freshman middle hitter Lydia Clifford (Coventry, R.I.) topped her team with a .333 attack percentage despite a 3-0 loss to New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) opponent Eastern Nazarene today with the game scores 25-16, 25-21 and 25-16.  Senior setter Lexi Cears (Agawam, Mass.) led the way with 13 assists and eight digs.

The Lions were led by a pair of outside hitters' freshman Ruth Aguilar (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) and junior Courtney McCarthy (Merrimack, N.H.). Aguilar topped all performers with a stellar.474 hitting percentage while adding nine kills, eleven assists, three digs and one block. McCarthy tallied the most kills on the day with eleven, hitting a .280, while adding nine digs.

Sophomore setter Samantha Caldwell (Quincy, Mass.) added 13 assists for the Lions. Both teams managed to make use of their benches. Clifford, led the way at the net with three blocks, also adding three service aces.

Bay Path falls to 4-7 on the season and 0-1 in conference play, while Eastern Nazarene advances to 7-3 overall and 1-0 in the NECC. Bay Path will be back in action hosting Westfield State on Monday, September 24th at an 8:00 p.m. game.
